Call for Speakers
Join us on stage!
140conf is a chance to share the spotlight with people who don’t often get the chance to tell their story. In fact, the whole Small Town event is intended to put a spotlight on a part of the country that is too often ignored.
The topic is how the State of NOW, how instant communications like Twitter, have changed life, business, nonprofits, government, media, agriculture, and anything else you can think of. While the original 140 Characters Conference was focused exclusively on the role of Twitter, technology keeps advancing. That means you don’t have to limit yourself to Twitter, but can include any of the other State of Now tools you’re using.
How speaking at 140conf is different:
-You only have 10 minutes. 15 minutes for groups. You have to get to the point quickly!
-No PowerPoint. No slides.
These two rules completely change the tone of the event from boring lecture to personal connection.
Questions?
If I spoke at a past #140conf event, can I speak again?
Sure. Bring us a new story or a new piece of the story.
Do I need to be a professional speaker or have public speaking experience?
No. This is an event about real people. More than one speaker last year took the stage at #140conf NYC with knees knocking, and managed to share their heart with the audience. If it will boost your confidence, find a friend and speak as a duo.
Can I refer a friend?
Sure. Send them this email or the link to the submission form. It helps if they will watch videos from previous events to get an idea of what the 140conf is about.
What if I’m not on Twitter?
Then tell us about the tools you are using in the State of Now. How is it changing your work and life?
Do I have to be from Canada? Or live in Ontario?
You can be from anywhere, as long as you have a story relevant to people who are also experiencing the real-time web.
The deadline for speaking proposals is: Friday, July 22nd.
Any other questions, just ask.
